I sometimes get so jaded at my life while working in my business and loose sight of the big picture..
Especially for us who have been working in the same industry for years..
Sometimes we only have tunnel vision and focus on the basics and daily tasks but forget the vision. That’s why we have to constantly keep the end in mind while putting first things first.
“Are you working in your business or ON your business?”
The key to success I have learned is to be able to see the big picture and think long term about where your business/life will be and how it will look like in example 5 years. Having said that, we also need to keep the main thing, the main thing which is work on the basics one step and goal at a time.
“Keep your eyes on the prize and don’t drop the ball”.
Every morning in my journal I write down 10 things that I’m grateful for in my business. That builds on my confidence. When we are grateful about the journey so far, we have more confidence that the big picture is being realised by working the daily activities. I see the gratitude list as a bridge between the long term vision and what is the most important thing we need to do today to get there. I also journal my goals for the next 3-5 years and then I write down my top goal for the day.
Here are my first three picks from Sunday morning. I will be posting the rest during next week.
1. I’m grateful to our business for bringing me together with Anita thirteen years ago.
I remember almost delegating the presentation to someone else as I was hungover and tired after a big event the previous night. Luckily I went to the meeting and met Anita on the other side of the table and it was pretty much love at first sight. ❤
2. Thanks to our business we both also fell in love with personal development and have immersed in always developing ourselves. I think the main reason why we got back together after the break up seven years ago was because of the personal growth we had gone through and the will to go to therapy, find a few mentors (special thanks to Suvi Bowellan ❤), read the right books (especially “the five love languages” by Gary Chapman) and learned how to listen and communicate better so we could go through all the hurdles. We understood that if we didn’t untie these knots now, then the same shadows would face us in our future/next relationships. It was a really tough time, most of our friends and family thought that it was going to be game over but love won and somehow we made it.
It’s sometimes very painful and difficult to step out of the comfort zone. Most people are scared of change. I am too and I face fear and doubt every single day. However thanks to daily personal growth I have learned to act despite of it.
As the saying goes, “if you want to see some changes in your life, you’re going to have to make some changes in your life”.
I have also learned that success and happiness is not at the destination but it really is the journey. Back in the days I was chasing the dream and the shiny object at the end of the rainbow but never finding long lasting happiness when reaching my goals. Today, after years of struggle and working more on myself than on my business, I’m living the dream and really enjoying the process.
3. I’m grateful to our business for giving me a chance to be more with my family. It’s awesome to be more present with my boys and watch them grow. I’m also grateful that I can bring my children to some of our events that talk about personal growth, entrepreneurship and leadership through very inspiring, influencing and impacting stories. Seeds of greatness have been planted to their minds from early age.
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more.
Happy Sunday evening and I wish you all the success for the new week!
